Part 2 of 3 — The Vision by the Fire
The Vision by the Fire: The Birth of Nourish
Yesterday, I shared how my relationship with food has been changing, and how something as simple as harvesting mint from our garden invited me to reflect on the wisdom of the seasons.
What I didn’t share was where those reflections eventually led me.
To a vision.
On the fall equinox, while in sacred ceremony, I found myself in a moment that has stayed with me ever since.
I was on my knees beside a fire. A sick woman lay in front of me. Feathers adorned my hair, and I felt deeply connected to the elements around me.
Gently, I reached down and cradled her head, lifting it into one hand while holding a wooden cup in the other. Inside the cup was a blend of herbs for her to drink.
And then I heard the words:
You are the medicine woman. You’re here to help heal.
The words landed somewhere deep within me.
When I came back to the present moment, it felt as though Spirit had spoken directly into my ear. There was a knowing I couldn’t quite put into words, but I could feel it.
Suddenly, so many threads of my life seemed to come together.
My own healing journey. The cancer diagnosis that has invited me to look more deeply at my body and how I care for it. My energy healing training. My herbalism studies. My growing relationship with food, plants, and the wisdom of the land.
Experiences that once seemed separate began to form a larger picture.
Not necessarily a picture with every answer laid out in front of me, but one that felt like an invitation to look at my life differently. To recognize the threads that had been weaving together all along.
And one word kept coming forward.
Nourish.
Not just for me, but for the collective.
I sat with that word. I let it unfold. I listened for what wanted to emerge, allowing the vision to take shape rather than forcing it into something I thought it should be.
I knew I wanted to create something that reached beyond meal plans or the latest advice about what we should and shouldn’t eat.
I wanted to create a space where people could come back to themselves.
A place where nourishment wasn’t another thing to get right, but an opportunity to slow down, become curious, and reconnect with the bodies we so often spend our lives trying to fix.
I wanted to help people see food differently. To understand its relationship with the seasons, to experience the simple beauty of preparing a meal, and to begin listening to their own bodies with compassion rather than criticism.
And slowly, the vision began to take form.
Nourish.
A sacred space for coming home to our beautiful bodies and tending to ourselves with love.
I don’t believe every calling arrives with a clear map. Sometimes it comes as a whisper. Sometimes as an image that stays with you long after the moment has passed. Sometimes it emerges through the experiences that have shaped you, even the ones you never would have chosen.
For me, Nourish feels like a weaving together of those threads.
A meeting place between my own journey, my relationship with the natural world, and the work I feel called to share.
Tomorrow, I want to tell you more about what Nourish means to me, and why I believe coming home to ourselves can begin with something as simple as the food we eat.
In Peace, Love and Service,
Rebecca
